I am an artist and a craftsperson. I make ethical jewelry, but what does that mean? Recycled materials mean that I use what is already above the ground and circulating in the world, because we have enough stuff, and we have enough for everybody. Ethically sourced stones and fair-trade gold mean that there is transparency in every aspect of production. That people are being paid well and treated well for their work and the most environmentally sustainable practices are used to obtain the material.
